Sapphire manufactures a comprehensive range of rated polyester load restraint straps for commercial vehicle load securing applications. Each assembly is manufactured using certified components before being destructively tested to establish its break force and corresponding Lashing Capacity (LC). Once verified, compliant EN 12195-2 identification labels are sewn into both the main strap and tail assembly to provide permanent traceability.
Our straps are suitable for new vehicle builds, replacement equipment and retrofit load restraint systems across curtainsiders, flatbeds, rigid vehicles and box vans.
Manufactured to EN 12195-2
Load restraint straps are manufactured in accordance with EN 12195-2, the recognised European standard covering web lashings used to secure loads during road transport. Every label includes important information such as:
- Lashing Capacity (LC)
- Standard Tension Force (STF)
- Standard Hand Force (SHF)
- Webbing material (typically polyester)
- Manufacturer details
- Traceability code
- Year of manufacture
- Maximum permitted elongation
- The mandatory 'NOT FOR LIFTING' statement
Further information on the requirements of EN 12195-2 can be found via the British Standards Institution.
Custom manufactured to suit your operation
Every fleet operates differently, so our straps can be tailored to suit the application. Typical options include:
- LC ratings to suit the required load restraint application, including commonly supplied 1T, 2T and 5T assemblies.
- Various polyester webbing widths appropriate to the required lashing capacity.
- Custom overall strap lengths.
- A choice of end fittings including combi (flat) hooks, claw hooks, rave hooks and other specialist fittings.
- Ratchet tensioners to suit operator preference.
- Coloured webbing to help identify different applications or fleet preferences.
- Operator branding stamped directly onto the webbing.
Captive load restraint straps
For operators wishing to reduce the risk of opportunistic strap theft, Sapphire can manufacture captive load restraint straps.
These assemblies incorporate a secondary steel PVC-coated leash connected to the main strap. The leash passes over a high-tension cable installed along the trailer, allowing the strap to slide freely along its working position while preventing it from being removed from the vehicle. This provides the convenience of repositioning the strap without leaving it vulnerable to casual removal.
Typical applications
Our rated load restraint straps are commonly used for:
- Rave-to-rave load securing on curtainsiders and flatbeds.
- Internal load restraint within box vans.
- Securing loads between LoadLok (1807) tracking systems using compatible fittings.
- Replacement straps for existing vehicle fleets.
- Complete load restraint systems supplied with new vehicle builds.
Inspection and maintenance
Load restraint equipment should be inspected regularly and maintained in good condition. Damaged, excessively worn or otherwise unserviceable straps should be removed from service and replaced with suitable rated assemblies.
